Vasa Cannon 1:4
Our Vasa cannons are replicas from the man-of-war Vasa, built in 1628 for King Gustav II Adolf, often described as one of the most gifted and most bellicose Swedish kings. The Vasa was regarded as Sweden’s mightiest warship when she was built, but she capsized on her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628, off the island of Beckholmen in Stockholm’s outer harbour. The ship was salvaged in 1961 and can now be seen at the Vasa Museum on Djurgården, one of Stockholm’s most popular tourist attractions.
