Charles XII
Field Gun
This cannon is a replica of a three-pound cannon from the time of Charles XII (King of Sweden 1697–1718), who used it as standard equipment in his military campaigns. It was easy to manoeuvre and had a high firing rate – usually four shots per minute, faster than a soldier armed with a musket could manage. A three-pound cannon fired balls weighing three pounds (1.5 kg). It had a calibre of 7.7 cm and a range of 225–300 m. The cast-iron barrel weighed 460 kg.
