Salute of Sweden is based in the naval city of Karlskrona, a World Heritage Site, where well-preserved historic locations happily coexist with today’s residents and businesses.

 

Several of our saluting cannons are modelled on cannons from Karlskrona’s glory days. Sweden was once a great military power and the city was one of the most important ports in the country, thanks to its strategic location on the Baltic coast. We are therefore proud to continue the tradition of building cannons in Karlskrona.

 

The naval port of Karlskrona was admitted to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1998 as Site No. 560. The city is of international significance as an exceptional example of 17th–18th-century city planning and a naval base with sea defences. Karlskrona is well worth a visit.
